Managing High Cholesterol with Davie Duo (Rosuvastatin + Ezetimibe) and Diet Changes 🩺🥗 본문
Managing High Cholesterol with Davie Duo (Rosuvastatin + Ezetimibe) and Diet Changes 🩺🥗
KoreanHalmeoni 2025. 9. 12. 15:04If you’ve been diagnosed with high cholesterol, this post shares my personal journey with Davie Duo (rosuvastatin + ezetimibe), how I manage it through diet and lifestyle changes, and why I had to give up grapefruit to protect my heart health.
📊 High Cholesterol Diagnostic Criteria
Doctors usually diagnose high cholesterol based on blood test results:
- Total cholesterol: over 200 mg/dL
- LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol): over 130 mg/dL
- HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol): under 40 mg/dL
- Triglycerides: over 150 mg/dL
👉 My total cholesterol and LDL were above these limits, so I began both medication and lifestyle changes.
💊 Medication: Davie Duo (Rosuvastatin + Ezetimibe)
My doctor prescribed Davie Duo, a combination of rosuvastatin calcium and ezetimibe.
- Rosuvastatin works by reducing cholesterol production in the liver.
- Ezetimibe lowers cholesterol absorption in the intestines.
Together, they target both internally produced cholesterol and dietary cholesterol.
📌 How I Take It
- Once daily, after dinner (can also be taken at bedtime)
- Always at the same time each day
- 🚫 No grapefruit or grapefruit juice — my doctor strictly warned me
I actually love grapefruit, but I had to quit it. It wasn’t easy, but health comes first. 🍊❌
🍔 Foods That Worsen High Cholesterol
- Fatty meats and organ meats
- Fried and processed foods
- Butter, cream, cheese, and other high-saturated-fat dairy products
- Cakes, cookies, sugary snacks, and sodas
🥦 Foods That Help Lower Cholesterol
- Vegetables like cabbage, spinach, and broccoli
- Soy products, tofu, beans, lentils
- Fatty fish such as mackerel, salmon, and sardines (rich in omega-3)
- Nuts like almonds and walnuts
- Whole grains such as oats and brown rice
🥗 My Diet Routine
For dinner, I try to avoid carbohydrates and focus on fresh vegetables.
My go-to plate includes cabbage, tomatoes, tofu, and bell peppers with a light pineapple dressing.

🚫 Grapefruit — The Fruit I Had to Give Up 🍊❌
One of the hardest parts of my cholesterol journey was giving up grapefruit.
I used to enjoy it almost every day, but my doctor warned me:
- Grapefruit can interfere with statins and ezetimibe
- It blocks liver enzymes that metabolize the drug, leading to higher drug concentration in the blood
- This increases the risk of muscle pain, liver problems, or serious complications
So, even though I loved the tangy taste of grapefruit, I had to stop eating it.
👉 If you’re on Davie Duo (rosuvastatin + ezetimibe) or similar cholesterol-lowering drugs, avoiding grapefruit is essential.
🌿 Moving Forward
High cholesterol often has no obvious symptoms, which makes it easy to ignore.
But it can silently damage arteries and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.
That’s why I’m determined to:
- Take Davie Duo consistently
- Maintain a cholesterol-friendly diet
- Exercise regularly and manage stress
- Avoid grapefruit and other interactions
This is not just about lowering numbers on a test — it’s about protecting long-term heart and vascular health.
