😨 The Scary Discovery

When I first spotted a strange white bump on the tip of my Shih Tzu’s tongue, my heart dropped.

My very first thought? Cancer.

Every meal, every time he stuck his tongue out, that little bump reminded me of the possibility that something was seriously wrong. I couldn’t sleep without worrying.

It was especially hard because I still remember the day Creamy first joined our family—his wobbly little steps, bright eyes, and the way he instantly captured our hearts.

Thinking back to that happy beginning made this tiny white bump feel even more terrifying.

“The tiny white bump that made us fear the worst.”

🏥 Diagnosis: What Looked Like Cancer Was Actually Calcinosis

At the veterinary clinic, Creamy went through:

  • X-rays
  • Blood tests
  • A thorough oral examination

The results? Calcinosis (calcification on tissue)—not cancer.
Calcinosis occurs when calcium builds up abnormally inside soft tissue, creating hard white nodules.

While we were relieved it wasn’t a tumor, the vet explained the bump could continue to grow, making eating uncomfortable. The safest option was surgical removal.

“Full veterinary work-up: X-rays, blood tests, and oral exams confirmed calcinosis.”

🔪 Surgery & Recovery Journey

Creamy underwent surgery under general anesthesia. The vet carefully removed the calcium lump from the tongue.

“Post-surgery tongue: the white bump completely removed.”

Post-surgery, he rested at home, showing signs of recovery day by day. His tongue healed cleanly, and most importantly, he could eat again without discomfort.

“Resting after surgery—Creamy recovering comfortably at home.”

Soon, he was back to his playful, cheerful self.

“Bright and healthy again—our worry finally over.”
